Yes. The user-defined numerical model allows easy interfacing
to external analysis packages that use a text based input file. There all are
also several options for extracting responses of interest including a specified
field in a file and a user defined subroutine.
The FPI (Fast Probability Integrator) software previous
provided under version 2.4 was a subset of NESSUS. It supported a number of
capabilities in NESSUS except the finite element interfaces, response surface
method, Latin Hypercube simulation, and error based Monte Carlo simulation.
Over the years, only a few FPI licenses were requested
compared to the number of NESSUS licenses. Providing two products that had
similar capabilities also caused a lot of confusion about the products.
Finally, maintaining two separate software products reduced the development
effort to more useful areas. For these reasons, FPI as a separate product has
been discontinued
More information about NESSUS's capabilities can be obtained from the
"capabilities" page of this site.
